It was the day of the jump. I was so nervous, all I could think of were the consequences of this jump if it went wrong. The jump was taking place at two so I had a few hours to get prepared for it. I got dressed into a fur coat, hat and my trusty pair of high heels. I had to compose myself before I went out. No matter what people thought would happen today I had to prove them wrong. I had done it before by making Sophie Pierce Evans and Lady Mary Heath two different people and I could do it again today by completing this jump with no injuries.

I arrived at the hangar where my plane was being stored and took it out, decided to do a few practice loops to calm my nerves as we had had trouble the day before. I put on my goggles and filled up my tank with gas climbing in the front ahead of my pilot. As I flew through the air, I felt my nerves melt. I had been practising for ages so I shouldn’t be worried, yesterday’s engine trouble had been addressed, and though it was unnerving to say the least to descend rapidly form 1500ft clinging to the wing strut it certainly was amusing to interrupt that football match by landing in the middle of the pitch!

Slowly but surely a crowd gathered to watch the jump. It made me feel a bit more nervous but not as bad as I was this morning. I decided to just put my nerves aside and do it. When most of the crowd had gathered, I set off in my plane with my pilot and my parachute on my back. We flew once again to the correct height, 1500ft, and I climbed out onto the wing and just jumped. I felt such a rush of adrenaline I almost forgot to pull the string on my parachute. Once I pulled the string and landed safely on the ground the realisation of what I had just done hit me and I felt so happy, though if I could do it again id ask for the ploughed field I landed in to be a bit softer!
